Mektronics Co. Pty Ltd commenced operations in South Melbourne in October 1984 as the Victorian distributors of Edsyn soldering equipment.  This was rapidly supplemented by Hakko and a wide range of tools, service and production aids.

After a period of steady growth, a second office was opened in Adelaide in February 1992 and in 2001 the acquisition of Advanced Materials Technology was completed.

Following the merge between Seltronics and Mektronics Co. Pty Ltd in July 2008 to form Mektronics Australia Pty Ltd, the group now has distribution facilities in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide and services a client base all over Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Mektronics is the sole Australian importer of many well known brands such as Chemtronics, Soder-Wick, Menda, Desco, Ideal-Tek, JBC, Interflux, Denon, C.H. Ellis, Tronex, PanaVise, Super Lube and many others.
